The Alberta Motor Association (AMA) has partnered with the RCMP, Grande Prairie Crime Prevention and County Shred It to host a public document-shredding day to combat identity theft and other fraud-related crimes.

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in Canada.  Personal documents such as bank statements, credit card bills, receipts, utility bills and store receipts can be used to commit fraud. By safely disposing of these documents, individuals can safeguard their personal information and help protect themselves from becoming a victim of fraud.

When:                Saturday, May 8th, 2010

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where:           AMA Grande Prairie Centre

11401 - 99 Street

Grande Prairie

Note: This event is only open to individuals who are disposing of personal documents. The event organizers reserve the right to refuse service to individuals who are looking to dispose of commercial or business materials.

Grande Prairie Food Bank donations will also be accepted at the event.
